The Sun Star cooling tower motor is a three-phase induction motor specifically designed for the extreme humidity and temperature conditions found at the top of induced-draft and cross-flow cooling towers. The stator winding uses Class H insulation (180°C rated) — a full 25°C margin above Class F — because the ambient temperature at the fan deck of a cooling tower can be 10–15°C higher than ground level, significantly reducing the thermal margin available for motor heating. All internal surfaces receive moisture-resistant varnish through vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI), and external surfaces are finished with industrial epoxy paint for corrosion resistance against the chemically treated water commonly used in cooling tower basins.
